Mechanism of Action

Sermorelin is the 1–29 amino-acid N-terminal fragment of human growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH), amidated at the C-terminus, and is the shortest GHRH sequence retaining full receptor activity in structure–activity studies. It binds the GHRH receptor on anterior-pituitary somatotrophs, raising intracellular cAMP and stimulating pulsatile growth-hormone release in a physiologically regulated manner that remains subject to somatostatin feedback in animal models. Observations summarized here derive from in vitro assays and animal models; the material sold on this page has not been evaluated in controlled human trials.

Reconstitution & Storage

Lyophilized sermorelin is stable at −20°C or colder in its sealed vial; −80°C is preferable for long-term archival. Reconstitute in bacteriostatic water (0.9% benzyl alcohol) to a laboratory working concentration of 1–5 mg/mL for in vitro use. Once reconstituted, refrigerate at 2–8°C and use within approximately 30 days. Aliquot into single-use vials at reconstitution to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles of the working solution.
