GHK-Cu
GHK-Cu (Glycyl-L-Histidyl-L-Lysine Copper Complex) is a naturally occurring tripeptide-copper complex found in human plasma, saliva, and urine. Preclinical studies in cell cultures and animal models indicate that GHK-Cu promotes collagen and glycosaminoglycan synthesis, stimulates extracellular matrix remodeling, enhances wound healing, and exhibits antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.[1][2]
Key Research Areas
- Wound Healing & Tissue Remodeling – In vitro fibroblast cultures and animal skin wound models show GHK-Cu accelerates granulation tissue formation, increases collagen deposition, and promotes balanced matrix metalloproteinase activity for tissue repair.[3][4]
- Antioxidant & Anti-Inflammatory Effects – Preclinical investigations demonstrate GHK-Cu reduces oxidative stress, modulates inflammatory cytokine expression, and activates protective pathways (e.g., superoxide dismutase) in models of tissue injury and aging.[5][6]
- Cellular Regeneration & Gene Expression – Studies in human cell lines reveal GHK-Cu influences expression of genes related to tissue repair, angiogenesis, and extracellular matrix components, supporting regenerative processes in dermal and epithelial models.[1][7]
