BPC-157
BPC-157 (Body Protection Compound-157) is a synthetic pentadecapeptide derived from a protective protein found in human gastric juice. Preclinical studies in various animal models indicate that BPC-157 promotes angiogenesis, accelerates tendon and ligament healing, protects gastrointestinal mucosa, and supports tissue repair processes without apparent toxicity.[1][2]
Key Research Areas
- Tendon, Ligament & Musculoskeletal Repair – In rat models of Achilles tendon transection, muscle crush injury, and ligament damage, BPC-157 has been shown to enhance tendon outgrowth, improve collagen organization, accelerate functional recovery, and promote healing via upregulation of growth factors.[3][4]
- Gastrointestinal Protection & Healing – Preclinical investigations demonstrate BPC-157 counteracts damage from NSAIDs, alcohol, and other ulcerogens, stabilizes gastric mucosa, and accelerates healing of fistulas and intestinal lesions in animal models.[5][6]
- Angiogenesis & Vascular Function – Studies in ischemic and vascular injury models suggest BPC-157 upregulates VEGF expression, improves endothelial function, and supports new vessel formation while modulating nitric oxide pathways.[7][8]
